Michigan State receiver Antonio Gates Jr. has entered the NCAA transfer portal, a team spokesperson confirmed Monday.

He is one of three Spartans to enter the portal, joining defensive back Sean Brown and running back Davion Primm.

The 6-foot-2, 194-pound Gates appeared in all 12 games as a redshirt freshman last season, making five catches for 82 yards and a touchdown.

Gates, the son of former NFL All-Pro tight end Antonio Gates, is a Dearborn Fordson product and was one of the top-rated signings in the Spartans' 2022 recruiting class as a four-star prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

As a senior at Fordson, he had 55 receptions for 925 yards and 16 touchdowns, while also recording two interceptions and breaking up nine passes on defense to make The Detroit News Dream Team in 2021.

The 6-3, 196-pound Brown appeared in seven games as a freshman, recording three tackles.

Meanwhile, Primm, an Oak Park product, played nine games over his two seasons with the Spartans. In 2023, the 6-foot, 205-pound redshirt sophomore appeared in eight games, playing primarily on special teams.
