Saturday's state men's basketball: Five Eastern Michigan players hit double figures in win

Ypsilanti — Drew Lowder had 18 points to lead five Eastern Michigan players in double figures as the Eagles beat Akron 71-59 on Saturday.

Yeikson Montero added 14 points for the Eagles (3-3, 1-2 Mid-American). Bryce McBride, Noah Morgan and Ty Groce had 10 points each. Montero also had six rebounds.

Loren Cristian Jackson had 10 points for the Zips (4-2, 2-1) as did Maishe Dailey.

Bowling Green 93, (at) Central Michigan 65: Justin Turner (Detroit Renaissance) had 24 points with eight assists as Bowling Green romped past Central Michigan, posting a 5-0 start to Mid-American Conference play for just the third time.

Bowling Green also achieved 5-0 MAC starts in 2018-19 and 1961-62.

Kaden Metheny had 14 points for Bowling Green (9-2), which won its fifth consecutive game. Trey Diggs added 13 points. Caleb Fields had 13 points and six rebounds. Daeqwon Plowden had 7 points and 14 rebounds.

Bowling Green posted a season-high 20 assists.

Travon Broadway Jr. had 19 points and eight rebounds for the Chippewas (5-6, 1-3). Meikkel Murray added 14 points. Caleb Huffman and Caleb Hodgson each had 10 points.

Bowling Green also defeated Central Michigan 90-69 on Tuesday.

►(At) Lake Superior State 75, Wayne State 64: Kemin Bassett scored 23, Malek Adams 16 and Justin Fischer 10 for Lake Superior State. Avery Lewis finished with 18 points to lead Wayne State. Antonio Marshall had 14, Darian Owens-White 12 and Jackie Harris 10 for the Warriors, who defeated the Lakers 87-76 on Friday with Owens-White scoring 23.

►(At) Kent State 80, Western Michigan 54: Mike Nuga had 26 points as Kent State easily beat Western Michigan.

Giovanni Santiago had 13 points for Kent State (4-3, 1-2 Mid-American Conference). Justyn Hamilton added 10 points and nine rebounds. Gabe O’Neal had eight rebounds.

B. Artis White had 12 points for the Broncos (2-7, 1-3).

(At) Green Bay 87, Oakland 78: Amari Davis scored 25 and Josh Jefferson 19 as Green Bay (3-9, 3-5 Horizon) completed the weekend sweep. All five Grizzlies starters scored in double figures, led by Rashad Williams with 20 and Daniel Oladapo with 18. Oakland is 3-12, 3-5.
