Rochester Hills' Stoney Creek High clear of threats, officials say

Rochester Hills — Claims of a weapon on campus, which sparked a lockdown and a search of Stoney Creek High School, were determined to be "unfounded," officials said Tuesday.

The school was placed in lockdown at 11:48 a.m., the school tweeted.

The principal did so after "a student told a school official there was another student armed with a gun," the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. "Furthermore, another student claimed to have heard a gunshot in the building."

Sheriff’s deputies and Rochester police searched and cleared each room of the school, according to the release.

“We take every threat seriously and fully investigate them,” Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. “Nothing has been located that was a credible concern. Contrary to a false media report, no body was found, and no one was injured.”

The school was cleared of any threats Tuesday afternoon, according to sheriff's officials and the Rochester School District. 

"... Upon investigation, it is believed that the claims made by the two students were unfounded," the Sheriff's Office said.

As a precaution, Hart Middle School and Hugger and North Hill Elementary Schools were also placed on lockdown, the Rochester School District said in a tweet. Law enforcement  also cleared the schools.
