Of the 50 businesses nominated for Bon Appétit's list of the country's best new restaurants, two of them are in Detroit.

A matcha green tea financier with Michigan strawberry ganache at Warda Patisserie in Eastern Market.

Ochre Bakery in Detroit's Core City neighborhood and Warda Pâtisserie inside Trinosophes in Eastern Market are both named on the list. The selections, curated by the magazine's deputy editor Julia Kramer, will be paired down to the nation's top 10 best new restaurants next week.

Kramer described Ochre as "ambitious" and called it "the cheeriest cafe," and said Warda Pâtisserie's sweet and savory pastries were "works of art."

Ochre Bakery is at 4884 Grand River and is open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Tues.-Sun. Warda, 1464 Gratiot, is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tues.-Sat.

The list also named Nina & Rafi, an Atlanta restaurant that serves Detroit-style pizza.
