A Chick-fil-A is coming to downtown Detroit.

The popular fast-food chicken joint will have a space inside Bedrock's First National Building on Woodward Avenue downtown near Campus Martius. Crain's Detroit Business first reported about the coming Chick-fil-A. A Bedrock spokesperson confirmed the report to The Detroit News.

The First National Building will house a downtown location for Chick-fil-A as soon as this spring.

The target opening will be in May or June, said Jacob Sworski, managing partner for Iconic Real Restate representing Chick-fil-A franchisee Dennis Zoma in the deal. The Chick-fil-A will take up about 3,500 square feet of space next to Central Kitchen + Bar.

"That's the hub for retailers," Sworski said in an interview.

"Whenever you get to this point in the process, everyone on the tenant side is overwhelmed and overjoyed with the fact that we actually have a deal and it's solidified ... Everyone's on the same page. Everyone's excited."
