As the Metro editor, I oversee reporting by a team of reporters who cover education, crime, the courts, Wayne County, Macomb County, Oakland County, state government, Michigan's congressional delegation, the environment, health care and assorted outstate Michigan issues. I have worked at The Detroit News since 1987. I worked on the editorial page for 23 years and the rest in the news section, spanning the Business and Metro sections. I am a three-time past president of the now-defunct national Association of Opinion Page Editors.
