Meet the 2021 Michigan football recruits

Raheem Anderson, Detroit Cass Tech, center, 6-3, 298 pounds, four stars. Four-year varsity starter and a team captain since his sophomore season. Smart, technically sound, and equally strong in pass protection as well as run blocking.

Andrel Anthony, East Lansing, wide receiver, 6-2, 175 pounds, three stars. Earned an offer from Michigan at camp his sophomore season and chose the Wolverines over Notre Dame, Michigan State, Northwestern and more. Also played basketball. Athletic with good ball skills and helped his team to an undefeated record as a senior.

Kechaun Bennett, Suffield (Conn.) Academy, defensive end, 6-4, 220 pounds, four stars. Also an excellent wrestler. Chose Michigan over 17 other offers including Duke, California, Notre Dame and Nebraska. Figures to add weight and play strong-side end at Michigan.

Rayshaun Benny, Oak Park, OL/DL, 6-5, 275 pounds, four stars. Oak Park coach Greg Carter calls Benny, a two-way lineman, “probably the best lineman I’ve ever coached.” Benny missed the first five games of the season with a knee injury, but is healthy now. He’s No. 5 on The Detroit News’ 2021 Blue Chip list. He ranks No. 15 nationally at defensive tackle, according to the 247Sports composite, and No. 188 overall. Originally committed to Michigan State, Benny flipped, signing with Michigan.

Tristan Bounds, Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary Hall, offensive tackle, 6-7, 285 pounds. Played football and basketball in high school. Has a prototypical left tackle build and skill set. Chose the Wolverines over Notre Dame, Texas, Virginia and more.

Junior Colson, Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood, outside linebacker, 6-2, 228 pounds, four stars. Rose in the rankings as a senior after showing top-flight athleticism and ability to run plays down. Also returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Adopted from Haiti.

Greg Crippen, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy, center, 6-4, 285 pounds, four stars. Originally from Massachusetts, then finished career at IMG with J.J. McCarthy. Could play center or guard in college. Held offers from Alabama, Auburn and Notre Dame among his 12 opportunities.

Cristian Dixon, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, wide receiver, 6-2, 187 pounds, four stars. Brings size and ball skills to the offense. Productive as a sophomore at Diamond Ranch, then transferred to powerhouse Mater Dei and made an impact. Timed at 4.63 on the laser as sophomore.

Tommy Doman, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, punter, 6-3, 170 pounds, three stars. Considered the best combo punter/kicker in the 2021 class by Kohl’s Kicking. Under Armour, MaxPreps and USA Today All-American as a senior as well as a first-team All-State selection. Holds a school record 53-yard field goal.

Tavierre Dunlap, Del Valle (Texas), running back, 6-0, 196 pounds, three stars. Laser timed at 4.63 as a sophomore and backs that speed up with track times. Productive with 1,449 yards as a sophomore and 1,341 as a junior with 37 touchdowns those two seasons. Also caught 20 balls as a junior. Held offers from 35 schools.

Donovan Edwards, West Bloomfield, running back, 5-11, 195 pounds, four stars. Edwards had 1,021 rushing yards and 17 TDs this season in nine games before West Bloomfield’s season was put on hold. He is ranked the No. 2 running back in the nation and the No. 1 player overall in the state by 247Sports. He chose the Wolverines over Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame and Penn State.

Giovanni El-Hadi, Sterling Heights Stevenson, offensive tackle, 6-5, 285 pounds, four stars. Four-year varsity starter. Athletic, 4.44 shuttle was one of the best times among linemen at the Ohio Opening Regional his sophomore year. Will enroll mid-year.

Dominick Giudice, Middletown (N.J.) Mater Dei, defensive end, 6-4, 250 pounds, three stars. Ultra productive as a junior with 43 tackles for loss and 24 sacks. A sleeper, as Michigan was the only Power Five offer, but size and production gives him the chance to outperform his offer list.

TJ Guy, Mansfield (Mass.), defensive end, 6-4, 240 pounds, three stars. Was once committed to Boston College before switching to Michigan. Virtual tours and FaceTime calls with coaches helped Wolverines secure his commitment during an extended dead period.

Louis Hansen, Needham (Mass.) St. Sebastian’s, tight end, 6-4, 232 pounds, four stars. Can be a matchup problem because of his route-running and ball skills at his size. Caught eight touchdown passes as a junior. Held 24 scholarship offers, choosing Michigan over Boston College, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Penn State and more.

Jaydon Hood, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas, inside linebacker, 6-1, 212 pounds, four stars. Hard-hitting prospect who also wrestled and ran track in high school. Had 115 tackles and seven sacks at Cardinal Newman as a junior before transferring to Aquinas for his senior year.

Ikechukwu Iwunnah, Garland (Texas) Lakeview Centennial, 6-4, 275 pounds, three stars. Iwunnah is ranked the No. 63 defensive tackle in the country, according to the 247Sports composite, and No. 167 overall in Texas. Originally committed to Colorado, Iwunnah also had offers from Baylor, Texas, Washington State, Missouri and more.

Ja’Den McBurrows, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas, cornerback, 5-10, 165 pounds, three stars. Physical, aggressive cover man who has drawn comparisons to Lavert Hill. Ran track at St. Thomas Aquinas and helped the team go 15-0 and win a state title as a junior. Held offers from Penn State, Maryland, Alabama and more.

J.J. McCarthy, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy, quarterback, 6-3, 190 pounds, four stars. Received his first college offer (Iowa State) going into the ninth grade. Played at Nazareth Academy for three seasons before finishing his senior year at IMG. Breakout season was as a sophomore with 3,448 yards and 39 touchdowns to just four interceptions. Has natural arm talent, but also athleticism and ability to throw on the move.

Tyler McLaurin, Bolingbrook (Ill.), outside linebacker, 6-2, 210 pounds, three stars. Carries a 4.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale and was recruited by Stanford and Northwestern. Made 92 tackles and forced four fumbles as a junior. Did not play as a senior due to Illinois moving high school football to the spring.

Rod Moore, Clayton (Ohio) Northmont, safety, 5-11, 180 pounds. Ran 22.17 in the 200-meter dash and 7.12 in the 60-meter dash as a junior. Has excellent ball skills and coverage instincts. Can play deep safety or man. Had an excellent senior season on both sides of the ball.

George Rooks, Jersey City (New Jersey) St. Peter's Prep, 6-4, 260 pounds, four stars. Rooks, rated the No. 4 player in New Jersey by 247Sports composite, is the son of former Syracuse defensive lineman George Rooks Sr., a four-year starter drafted by the New York Giants.
