Oak Park coach Greg Carter calls Benny, a two-way lineman, “probably the best lineman I’ve ever coached.” Benny missed the first five games of the season with a knee injury, but is healthy now. He’s No. 5 on The Detroit News’ 2021 Blue Chip list. He ranks No. 15 nationally at defensive tackle, according to the 247Sports composite, and No. 188 overall. Originally committed to Michigan State, Benny flipped, signing with Michigan.
