Jean Madalyn Campbell Ballew, aged 102, of Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan, died on April 23, 2024. She was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1922 to Charles Andrew Campbell and Mary Blanche Einstein Campbell. She attended Guyton Elementary School and Saint Paul High School. She excelled in her studies and received a degree in business from Marygrove College in 1944. She married Julius Rousseau Ballew, Jr. on July 12, 1944.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Rita, her brother, Charles, her husband, and her daughters Mary and Jeanne. She is survived by her sons, Jay, Dan, Cam, and Chris, as well as her daughter Anne; her grandchildren, Jenny, Jamie, Chas, Drake, Galen, Vaughn, Devin, Clare, Keith, and Jenneva; and her great-grandchildren, Ryan, Molly, Brennan, Sullivan, Merryn, Hae-Jin, Joon-Nam, Hae-Won, and Lenora.

After raising seven children, Jean entered the workforce, initially assisting the Physicians Crisis Committee. She went on to work at Physicians Insurance Company of Michigan where she became a Vice President. She was known for her kindness, her gift for connecting to other people, and her commitment to her Catholic faith.

Jean was laid out in her home of 72 years. She will be buried with her husband at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Contributions to world peace through acts of thoughtful kindness will always honor her memory.
